03 May Mason Adventures Celebrates 30 Years of Turning Holidays into Adventures
On Thursday 25th May 2019, Mason Adventures, Bali’s longest-established and critically-acclaimed adventure company, was incredibly proud to celebrate their 30th Year Anniversary. The celebratory event took place at the world-renowned Mason Elephant Park & Lodge in Taro, which also simultaneously coincided with the 23rd Year Anniversary of the Park.
The event was a chance for Mason Adventures to show the company’s great appreciation for all of their supporters over the years, and featured numerous awards and prizes for the company’s top achievers. The anniversary also took the opportunity to further showcase the company’s extensive range of tours and products, which includes Jungle Buggies, White Water Rafting, Mountain Cycling, Elephant Interactions, Helicopter Flights, Mason Chocolate Factory tours, and more. Additionally, a wide array of lucky draw prizes were given away, including chocolate hampers from Mason Chocolates, adventure and accommodation packages at the Mason Elephant Lodge, as well as a number of helicopter flights for their top supporters and some very lucky guests.
The event was attended by over 500 prominent Bali residents and key figures from various tourism-related businesses, as well as direct friends of the Mason family. The festivities kicked off at noon, where guests arrived and were welcomed by the staff and family at the park entrance with refreshments, canapés, and group photos.
After getting acquainted, guests were then guided along a private tour of the park and its latest additions, starting off with the new Treetop Walk at the centre of the park, a brand new elevated walkway which was completely built from recycled ironwood from Kalimantan, and gives guests a fresh perspective of the elephants and surroundings from 6 metres above. The park also recently opened up an Elephant Art Gallery, which as the name suggests, only features completely elephant-related works of art from the likes of Dr. Seuss, Peter Hudson, Salvador Dali, and more.
Over the years, the park has been successfully independently audited, and to further reinforce that commitment to conservation and animal welfare, the new and nearly completed Elephant Free Roam Area was also shown, which gives the park’s healthy herd new area to relax and socialize with their friends while completely unattended. Additionally, and soon to come, is the Elephant Cave Bridge, which will feature a beautiful array of elephant carvings lining the bathing lake, as well as the Elephant Information Theatre, which will showcase a short film that highlights the history, rescue and documentation of the critically-endangered Sumatran elephant in their native homeland, as well as the progress and story of the Mason Elephant Park since 1997.
Guests were then guided into the park’s Lakeside Restaurant for further refreshments and a buffet, all the while roaming and enjoying time at the park at their own leisure. Before the speeches and giveaways commenced, many could be seen feeding and interacting with the elephants, while integrating with the usual daytime visitors, who were washing, riding and bathing with the gentle giants.
As the daytime celebrations came to a close and the sun dipped over the tree-lined horizon, a new crowd began to appear, as the day also marked the 75th birthday of the company’s founder, Nigel Mason. Friends and family arrived for beverages and canapés overlooking the park on the new Treetop Walkway, and later congregated for a resplendent dinner and party with belly dancers in the Elephant Palm Grove.
After the full day and night of festivities, the entire Mason family and their company were extremely proud and humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response, and for the incredible support they have received in Bali since the very beginning in 1989. Mason Adventures looks forward toward what the future of Bali has in store for them, as they continue to turn holidays into adventures for guests from all reaches of the world who come to visit beautiful Bali.
