NEW ARRIVAL

The Mason Elephant Park & Lodge welcomed a healthy new baby male elephant born on Tuesday 25thJune 2019 at 6.10am. Newly named ARJUNA (who is the third of Pandawa brothers and known to be the most handsome). He was 121 kilo at birth and was standing within 30 minutes and walking within 1.5 hours. He took his first breast milk 4 hours later and is quite tall for a baby Sumatran elephant. He is a newest member of an extremely and critically endangered species, predicted to be extinct in its natural habitat by 2030.

His mother is Fatimah, who was rescued as a 5 years old. She is 30 years old now and this is her second baby born here at The Mason Elephant Park since her arrival. Her first daughter born 10 years ago is named Jegeg and still at the park with her mother. This birth at Taro, is the 5th with 2 more expected in the next 6 to 8 months, as part of the successful natural breeding program started 10 years ago.

Sumatra is the last stronghold of this rare sub-species of Asian elephant that is literally running out of time with the destruction of its native jungle home. Nigel and Yanie, now with their two sons Jian and Shan are the owners of Mason Adventures which celebrates 30 years of operation this year that started when they pioneered White Water Rafting in Bali in 1989 that they still operate today along with numerous other Adventures Activities. More recently the Mason Chocolate Factory and Restaurant near Ubud has seen the company expand into food manufacturing.

With recent guests including Kardashians, Alicia Keys and Richard Branson, the Mason range of Adventure activities and gourmet destinations is a leading brand name on the island of Bali.

Guests to the Mason Elephant Park & Lodge can see the new baby in the viewing area each day between 9am and 6pm. For further information go to www.staging.masonadventures.com
