25 May Shinto Spa Offers Japanese Authentic Style Spa
Having been recognized globally for its excellent spas, Bali provides a wide choice of treatments to pamper spa lovers.
Shinto Spa in Mason Ubud Adventure Centre offers an authentic Japanese spa experience that takes the guests on a journey to the land of the rising sun.
Located on Jl. Raya Kedewatan, just a few meters after the famous Nasi Ayam Kedewatan Ibu Mangku if you are coming from Denpasar, the spa room is designed in impressively opulent style, with bamboo features, paper lanterns and modern minimalist furnishings.

The owner, Australian Nigel Mason, and his wife, Made Yanie – who founded Mason Adventures (also known as Bali Adventure Tours) in 1989, wanted to present a unique style of spa indulgence.
“Bali is known as ‘the island of a thousand spas’. There are so many Balinese-style spas. To be easily recognized, we have to be a bit catchy,” said Yanie.
“This [Japanese-style spa] hasn’t been done in Bali before, so it’s nice to come up with a new idea, something a bit different. I think the Japanese and Balinese cultures have many things in common, so I thought the Japanese theme fitted in well in Bali,” Nigel added.
A chilled glass of refreshing aloe vera juice is served to guests as a welcome drink, before the therapist ushers them to the treatment room behind the wooden framed sliding doors, which are designed like an exquisite Japanese residence.
Shinto Spa offers choices of body and beauty treatments for men and women, ranging from reflexology, to manicure, pedicure, facials, body massage and scrubs, with three signature body treatments: Earth Gift, Eternal Youth and White Lotus Purification Ritual.
Walkway: The spa hall heading to the treatment rooms is designed to accentuate the Japanese feel of the spa.
The energizing Earth Gift treatment has a jojoba scrub, body massage, aromatic moor mud body wrap and scalp massage. Designed to awaken and rejuvenate skin, this treatment is ideal for those prone to aches and pains, fatigue and exhaustion, or simply in need of restoring strength and inner balance.
Eternal Youth is an exquisite body treatment to counter premature aging and sun damage. With scents of tropical fruits from the mango-passion fruit salt mousse and papaya-pineapple body balm, this treatment will purify and preserve the skin’s health and restore the body for optimal renewal. Completed with an anti-aging body wrap, it leaves the skin smoother and firmer.

For a relaxing, calming and repairing treatment, the White Lotus Purification Ritual, using lemon, chamomile, white lotus and green tea, will revitalize skin stressed by free radical damage from fast city living, pollution and other factors that cause premature aging.
As a post-treatment service, guests are served a warm cup of tea and a chewy, delicate mocha cake, while relaxing on the wooden deck in front of koi ponds, enjoying the fresh air and the amazing view of Ubud hills.
To further indulge in an authentic Japanese atmosphere, guests can also enjoy a sumptuous meal at the premier sushi bar at Yanies Restaurant.
Special packages are also available, combining spa treatments with any of the Mason Adventures tour activities, followed by either a gourmet buffet lunch at The Canopy or dinner at Yanies Restaurant.
The first package is the Shinto Signature Japanese Package, which includes a 120-minute beauty and body massage of either Furo Eternal Youth Anti-Aging or Shiro Hachisu White Lotus Purification. Another choice of package is the Intense Relief Package, which provides guests with a 90-minute body massage of either an intense and invigorating tension relief massage with hot towels or a blissful re-energizing Moor Mud back treatment.
